You have been invited to take part in a 12 week wellness pilot offered through your clinic in partnership with the Cancer Prevention & Screening Innovation (CPSI), a unit of Primary Care Alberta. The pilot uses an app called Wellnify.
Wellnify is designed to help you build small, achievable daily habits around movement, learning, and wellbeing. Each day you receive a short plan that takes less than 10 minutes to complete. There is no cost to participate.
What Wellnify is not. Wellnify does not book appointments, send screening reminders, or share information with your care team about your health. It does not replace any care, advice, or follow-up from your clinic. If you have a health question or concern, contact your health care provider.
1. Getting Started
How do I download the app?
Use the one page information sheet you were given at your clinic:
- Scan the QR code with your phone camera.
- Create your account.
- Download Wellnify from the App Store or Google Play.
- Sign in with the account you just created.
Why can't I download the app on my device?
Wellnify requires a reasonably recent phone to support features such as activity tracking and camera based activities:
- iPhone must be running iOS 17 or newer
- Android must be running Android 13 or newer
If your phone does not meet these requirements, contact support and we will help you find an option.
Why is the app taking a long time to download?
Download speed depends on your internet connection. Wellnify includes interactive features that make it larger than some other apps, so it may take a few minutes.
Does the app use wifi or my mobile data?
Either. Wellnify works over wifi or over your mobile data connection. If you are watching video content or using camera based activities, we recommend connecting to wifi where possible.
I forgot my password. How do I reset it?
Tap Forgot Password on the login screen and follow the instructions sent to your email.
2. Your 12 Week Plan
What is the Daily Quest?
The Daily Quest is your 12 week plan, broken into one short set of activities per day. Each day gives you three items to complete, drawn from Mind, Body, and Spirit. The plan is curated to take less than 10 minutes a day.
It is designed to introduce you to the app and help you build a routine over the 12 weeks.
Do I have to follow the Daily Quest exactly?
No. The Daily Quest is a suggestion, not a requirement. You are welcome to complete some items and skip others, or explore other content in the app instead. Any participation counts.
What happens if I miss a day?
Nothing is lost. The plan simply moves forward to the next day. You do not fall behind and you do not need to catch up.
Some items will follow you until you finish them. Surveys and certain milestone activities carry over to the next day and keep appearing until they are completed. This is intentional, as those items matter to the pilot.
What happens at the end of my 12 weeks?
Your access to Wellnify ends when your 12 week plan is complete. Your 12 weeks begin on the day you create your account, so your end date depends on when you joined.
You will receive a reminder in the app before your access ends.
3. Step Goals and Streaks
How is my daily step goal set?
You have two options:
- Set your own goal. Choose a daily step target that works for you and adjust it whenever you like.
- Use AI Smart Step. The app reviews your last 14 days of activity and recalculates your goal every 7 days, so your target stays realistic as your activity changes.
AI Smart Step is designed to keep your goal achievable rather than pushing you toward a fixed number that may not suit you.
What is the streak?
Your streak counts the number of days in a row that you have met your step goal. It exists to reinforce the daily habit. It is not a score and it is not shared with your clinic.
What happens to my streak if I miss a day?
Your streak resets to zero, and that is the only thing that changes. Your plan continues, your XP stays, and your badges stay. Missed days are a normal part of building a habit.
4. Activity Tracking and Device Syncing
How does Wellnify track my activity?
Wellnify tracks activity through your phone or a supported wearable device using:
- Apple Health for iPhone users
- Google Health Connect for Android users
If your device syncs to one of these platforms, your activity can flow into Wellnify automatically.
You can also log activities yourself. Go to Daily Quest > Body > Add an Activity to choose from over 100 activity types.
Do I need a smartwatch or fitness tracker?
No. Your phone counts your steps on its own. As long as you have the app set up and your phone with you, your steps are recorded. A wearable is optional and only helps if you often leave your phone behind.
Can I sync a device that is not made by Apple or Google?
Yes, as long as your device or app connects to Apple Health or Google Health Connect. Many popular wearables and fitness apps can sync through these platforms.
I use Fitbit to track my steps. Will that sync?
Android users: Yes. Fitbit connects directly to Google Health Connect. Once connected, your Fitbit steps sync into Wellnify automatically.
iPhone users: No. Fitbit does not connect to Apple Health. Because of this limitation between the two platforms, Fitbit steps cannot sync into Wellnify on iPhone at this time.
I don't always carry my phone. Will my steps still count?
Yes, as long as your wearable device syncs to Apple Health or Google Health Connect. Your steps will count even when your phone is not with you.
Can I enter my steps manually?
No. Steps are tracked automatically through Apple Health or Google Health Connect, and there is no manual step entry. This keeps step data consistent across everyone in the pilot.
If you do not usually carry your phone, we recommend using a wearable that syncs through one of the supported platforms.
5. Camera Based (AR) Activities
What are AR activities?
Some activities use your phone's camera to count exercise repetitions, such as squats or high knees. This is called Augmented Reality, or AR. The camera counts your reps so you can focus on moving rather than keeping track.
AR activities are found mainly in the Friends section, where you can use them in friendly challenges.
Do all activities use the camera?
No. Most activities do not use your camera at all. Activities that offer AR will clearly show a Launch with AR option, and using it is always your choice.
Why aren't all of my reps being counted?
For the best results:
- Make sure the camera view is clear and well lit
- Make sure no one else is in the frame
- Position your phone so your full movement is visible
AR works best when the camera can focus only on you.
Is my AR video recorded or stored?
No. Videos are not stored by the app. After an AR activity you may choose to save or share the video yourself. Once you have done that, or if you choose not to, the video is deleted from the app.
6. XP, Badges and Levels
What does XP mean?
XP stands for Experience Points. You earn XP by completing activities anywhere in the app. XP recognizes participation and consistency. It does not measure your fitness level or your performance, and it is not a health score.
What are levels?
As your total XP grows, you move up through levels. Levels are a simple way to see your participation add up over the 12 weeks.
How do I find my badges?
Tap the Profile icon, then select Badges to see what you have earned.
7. Friends and Challenges
How do I add a friend?
Go to the Friends section, tap Add Friends, search for the person's username, and send a request. The other person has to accept before you are connected.
You can only be found by your username, not by your real name. If you would rather not be found at all, choose a username that people would not guess.
Do I have to use the Friends feature?
No. Friends and challenges are entirely optional. You can complete your full 12 week plan without adding anyone.
Can I challenge a friend?
Yes. Once a friend accepts your request, you can create friendly challenges between the two of you, including AR activities.
What is the Challenges section?
The Challenges icon in the navigation bar shows leaderboards for any group challenges that are running. During this pilot, group challenges are not scheduled, so this section may be empty for the length of your 12 week plan. Friendly challenges with individual friends are set up in the Friends section instead.
8. Explore
What is the Explore section?
Explore holds all of the activities and content in the app, organized by Mind, Body, and Spirit, so you can choose what interests you beyond your Daily Quest.
How do I search for content?
Tap Mind, Body, or Spirit, then scroll or use the search bar to find activities by keyword, such as Cardio, Yoga, or HIIT.
Do I earn XP in Explore?
Yes. Everything you complete in Explore earns XP and badges and counts toward your total XP and your level.
9. AI Wellness Coach
What is the AI Wellness Coach?
The AI Wellness Coach is an optional chat feature on your home screen. You can ask it general questions about wellness topics such as staying active, sleep, stress, and building routines, and it will suggest content in the app that may help.
Can the Coach answer medical questions?
No, and you should not use it for that. The Coach is a general wellness tool. It cannot see your health record, it does not know your medical history, and it is not a source of medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.
For anything to do with symptoms, screening, medications, test results, or a health concern of any kind, contact your health care provider. In an emergency, call 911.
Please do not share personal health information with the Coach. Avoid entering details such as your diagnosis, symptoms, test results, medications, or your health card number. Keep your questions general.
Do I have to use the Coach?
No. It is entirely optional and it is not part of your Daily Quest. You can complete your full 12 week plan without ever opening it.
Is the Coach a real person?
No. It is an automated tool that generates responses using artificial intelligence. No one from your clinic, CPSI - Cancer Prevention & Screening Innovation, or Wellnify is reading or replying to your messages in real time. Like all AI tools, it can occasionally give answers that are incomplete or incorrect.
10. Feed and Notifications
What is the Feed?
The Feed is where your clinic and the program administrators share updates, wellness tips, plan reminders, and community highlights.
Who can post in the Feed?
Only authorized administrators. Participants cannot post.
Will I receive notifications?
Yes. You may receive push notifications for plan reminders, important updates, and announcements shared in the Feed.
Can I turn notifications off?
Yes. You can turn notifications off at any time in your phone's settings, or in the notification settings inside the app. Turning them off does not affect your plan or your participation.
11. Your Information and Privacy
Where is my information stored?
Your Wellnify account information and your activity data are stored on servers located in Canada.
Does my doctor or clinic see my activity?
No. Your clinic does not see your individual activity, your steps, your streak, or your survey answers.
Information shared with CPSI - Cancer Prevention & Screening Innovation and Primary Care Alberta for the purposes of this pilot is de-identified and combined with other participants, so that it shows overall trends rather than any one person.
Why do surveys keep appearing in my plan?
Surveys help CPSI - Cancer Prevention & Screening Innovation understand how the pilot is working overall. They carry over from day to day until you complete them, which is why you may see the same one more than once. Your individual responses are de-identified and are not shared with your clinic or care team.
How do I leave the pilot or delete my account?
Participation is voluntary and you may stop at any time. To withdraw or to have your account deleted, contact support using the address below.
12. Support and Troubleshooting
The app isn't loading or is acting unexpectedly.
Try closing and reopening the app, checking for an update in the App Store or Google Play, then restarting your device. If the problem continues, contact support.
My activity or points didn't update.
There is occasionally a short delay while data syncs. If your information still has not updated after you close and reopen the app, contact support.
I got a new phone. What do I do?
Download Wellnify on your new phone and sign in with the same email and password. Your account, XP, badges, and plan progress will follow you. You will need to reconnect Apple Health or Google Health Connect on the new device.
